Oley Valley Emergency Information
October 23, 2007 1:06 PM
Dear Staff, Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:
Oley Valley High School has identified one case of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus ( MRSA ). MRSA infections are skin infections that may appear as pustules or boils, which often are red, swollen, painful, and have drainage. Staphylococcus (Staph) bacteria are normally present on the skin and in the nose of many people without causing any health problems. However, if staph enters the body through cuts or abrasions on the skin, it can cause an infection.
As always, support staff is working to insure that students are educated in a healthy environment. Classrooms are equipped with hand sanitizers. Students continue to be reminded of the importance of personal hygiene. Desks and classrooms have been treated with detergent-based cleaners.
