Annual Employee Training Requirements
2018-2019 School Year


  • All OVSD employees must complete annual mandatory training modules at the beginning of each school year.  The modules cover a variety of topics which the state and/or the school district believe are important for all employees to receive.
  • The 2018-2019 modules will be presented to employees using several different methods.
  • SafeSchoolsOnline is a web-based system that provides employee training modules.  Professional staff, administrators, and building secretaries will be completing these modules individually and will be receiving multiple e-mails after July 1, 2018, but prior to July 16, 2018, indicating how to log into the courses, and which courses need to be completed.  Buildings & Grounds, Paraprofessionals, and Dining Services employees will complete the modules as a group on either July 31, 2018 or August 7, 2018 in the Oley Valley High School Auditorium.  
  • The modules to completed for the 2018-2019 school year are listed below:

    • FERPA:  Confidentiality of Records                                                             
    • Health Emergencies: Diabetes Awareness                                                                
    • Homeless Students: Awareness and Understanding                                                
    • Medication Administration: Epinephrine                                                                  
    • Online Safety: What Every Ed. Needs to Know
    • Sexual Harassment: Staff to Staff                                                                             
    • Sexual Misconduct: Staff to Student             

  • ALICE Training Institute will be used again this year to facilitate our online active shooter training.  ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training prepares individuals to handle the threat of an Active Shooter. ALICE teaches individuals to participate in their own survival, while leading others to safety. Though no one can guarantee success in this type of situation, these skills have been proven to greatly increase the odds of survival should anyone face this form of disaster.  Professional staff, administrators, and building secretaries will be completing this training individually and will be receiving e-mails on June 28, 2018, indicating how to log into the course.  Buildings & Grounds, Paraprofessionals, and Dining Services employees will complete the training as a group on either July 31, 2018 or August 7, 2018 in the Oley Valley High School Auditorium.  

  • Two final documents will need to be reviewed and are listed below.  Professional staff, administrators, and building secretaries will be completing this training individually.  Buildings & Grounds, Paraprofessionals, and Dining Services employees will complete the training as a group on either July 31, 2018 or August 7, 2018 in the Oley Valley High School Auditorium.  

  • Upon completion of all training components, employees should download, print and sign the certification form.  The completed form should be submitted to your supervisor by September 21, 2018.  Buildings & Grounds, Paraprofessional, and Dining Services employees will sign the form at their training on either July 31, 2018 or August 7, 2018.
