Student Allergy Information
Students with allergies are permitted food substitutes only when supported by a "Medical Plan of Care" that was completed and signed by a medical authority and a parent/guardian. A recognized medical authority may be a doctor or a physician's assistant. Since most allergies continue, it is not necessary for a new statement to be secured each year. Someone from the district will call you to confirm student allergies annually.
Please find the Medical Plan of Care here or on the district food service department website. Once completed, please return to your student's school nurse. The form will be processed, and you will be notified if additional information is needed. Once acceptable, you will be notified that the food allergy is listed on the Point of Sale. Please do not assume the food service staff is restricting your student's food choices until you have confirmation that the allergy is listed on the Point of Sale.

We follow a traditional lunch menu with Offer Versus Serve. Students are offered the following meal components daily:
1 serving of meat or meat alternate
1 serving of fruit
1 serving of vegetables
1 serving of grain
1 serving of milk – 8 ounces
In order to qualify as a meal, a student must take 1 serving of a fruit or vegetable, and 2 of the other components. A la carte prices will be charged for separate or additional items.
MEAL CHARGING PROCEDURES FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS
No student will be refused a meal, regardless of their account balance. No a la carte items may be purchased or charged when a student has a negative balance. Parents/Guardians will be notified when the student has charged 5 meals. If a student asks a Food Service Employee questions regarding their account balance, or requests a payment envelope, the employee may comply with the request. At the Elementary School, payment envelopes are available in the Main Office. Students should not be given a receipt, notice, memo, or letter of any sort at the register for any reason.

Dot Hamm Legacy Fund
The Dot Hamm Legacy Fund was established in 2012 to honor Mrs. Dorothy Hamm upon her retirement after 43 years of service to the students and community through the Oley Valley School District’s Food Services Department. The District will raise funds through community and employee donations. All funds raised will be used for the benefit of District students who require assistance in paying for school meals.
Donations may be made by check to the Oley Valley School District Lunch Fund; please note “Dot Hamm Legacy Fund” on the check. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Anderson, the Superintendent, at 610-987-4100, or at eanderson@ovsdpa.org.
Thank you for your support of our students!
Attention Parents/Guardians
Welcome to the 24/25 school year. This is just a reminder to please make sure your student/students have lunch money in their account, if needed on a weekly basis. Also, please complete a 24/25 free-reduced lunch application, if you have not already done so, to keep your students eligibility. If a free-reduced lunch application is not received your students' lunch eligibility will revert to full pay in October. If you have already received a "Direct Certification" or "Approval Letter" stating your free/reduced eligibility, you are already approved for the 24/25 school year and you do not need to complete an application. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and have a wonderful school year.
Sincerely,
Jackie Westerfer
